Robert, I agree with you completely. In an ideal world we should be able to send every teacher of our children back to a college campus to receive additional training. But unfortunately that is no longer the demographic. I also agree that the proposal did a vague job of the describing the learning module content. I think this is where we need to focus our attention on this discussion board. As the teacher of a graduate level online APE course, I think one direction we could go is to establish a forum like this one (thanks Garth and Ron for the DB) that tackles each (or a combination of a similar topics) of the level four statements in the APENS. This would be an asynchronous discussion format available to those with a password (teachers/students and the membership) so that an educational discussion about APE work-related scenarios can take place within a secure room on the WWW. This way students could ask questions to the membership and the membership (if they so desired) could pose case study related scenarios to the students. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves... Here is another thought, maybe we could even make it an assignment for those students enrolled in the on-campus graduate level programs (Ph.D or M.S/A. students) (Federally funded, of course) to lead the discussion boards so students, interested in teaching APE, but are unable to pick up and move to one of the few APE college campus programs in the United States, can learn more about our field with a better chance of becoming highly qualified. Thoughts? Scott Pedersen PS I also would like to add that the majority of my online students have indicated to me that PEP 558 was the most informative class they have ever taken (graduate and undergraduate classes). I believe that statement is mostly attributed to the caliber of chatroom guests I am able to coax into sharing online with me and my students. I speak for my students when I say Kudos to all of you for your continued contributions.
