The committee has come up with some excellent ideas for moving APENS forward. I would support Recommendation 1. Anything to make the application process easier for applicants is a plus. I would be willing to support a modest increase in the exam fee, but I also feel that if it is perceived as too high, then that may deter interested folks. I would generally support Recommendation 2. Any interested person who takes a national level test expects some study resources be made available to them. The development of online learning modules is a great idea. One concern is that some folks may consider not pursuing the test after they weigh the $250 price tag on top of a $100 exam fee. I am interested in hearing more about how APENS will develop a mechanism/process by which the modules are continually developed. Regarding Recommendation 3, I support the exploration of partnering with a testing company. But, I also am wondering about a possible partnership with NASPE. At one point, I thought there was consideration of this option. Is this option off the table? Is this also worth exploring? Thanks for bringing the APENS initiatives to the forefront of this years meeting. I look forward to more discussion.
